The best application I have used as an image browser is ACDSee. You could use this as a DAM application but DAM functionality is not its strong point, it does excel as an image browser though. Neil You're correct, Neil. I'm using Bridge for an image browser. It actually does a great job at that, but if I were to replace Photoshop with Affinity Photo, Bridge would have to go, too. I'll definitely check out ACDSee. It's been like 100 years since I used that!
Selecting the Compression checkbox will compress your images to reduce file size. Image Conversion Method allows you to choose between Preserve Raw Image (to maximize the data preserved in the DNG) or to Convert to a Linear Image.
Easily install new extensions and manage the ones you already have with Adobe Extension Manager CS6. It runs side-by-side with most Adobe Creative Suite applications. If you are new to Extension Manager, please read the user guide. Extension Manager CS5.5 Bridge CS5.1, Contribute CS5.1, Dreamweaver.
I would say that the Mac and software are now running a little slower than before. Never had these problems before installing OS Sierra and have no idea in how to rectify them. Since I installed CS6 from its original discs, I’ve had no problems until El Capitan and Sierra. They have been giving me trouble, specifically with Audition. Every time that I try to open Audition CS6 in any of the newer OS, it crashes, quits unexpectedly before opening, and gives a problem report with very lengthy details.
You can choose any combination of Text, New Extension, Preserved Filename, Sequence Number, Sequence Letter, Date Time, and Metadata. Make sure to check the boxes for Compatibility if you want your images to be compatible with other operating systems. Step 5: Tweak Advanced Options and Metadata Before importing your photos, there are a few additional options that you can toggle. Selecting Open Adobe Bridge opens the main Bridge window after the import.
Type or paste your own text, add or remove text boxes and change the font. Add your photos and images to replace stock images. Templates are available in US and international page sizes. Installation procedure: Mount image and drag the application icon to the applications folder SmartAlbums 2.0.16 [En].
You read that right, it's not a photo editor. So you won’t be able to do color corrections, crops, or remove dust, scratches or blemish removals from any of your photographs. I like to think of the analogy that Bridge is like a beautiful massive dining room table top where you can spread out all of your photos and easily get to work, moving them around, sorting, renaming, and captioning them. Especially when you are working with newly scanned photos, much of your early work revolves around these organization processes, and detective work learning when your photos were taken and who's in them. This application is perfect for this period of time because the program isn't cluttered by the controls in a user interface also expected to handle visual editing. Organizing Photos in Bridge Bridge doesn’t use a centralized database to keep track of each photo you want to manage.
If you still experience GPU-related problems, so that they can be fixed. I haven’t seen an Adobe statement about Sierra compatibility for Premiere Pro CC 2015. Adobe After Effects According to the, it requires “macOS X versions 10.10 (Yosemite), 10.11 (El Capitan), or 10.12 (Sierra)” so it claims to be compatible with Sierra. Adobe Acrobat Pro DC According to the, it requires “Mac OS X v10.9, 10.10, 10.11, or 10.12” so it claims to be compatible with Sierra. Adobe PDF Many Mac users prefer to view PDF files in Apple Preview instead of Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat. However, in macOS Sierra, Apple rewrote the PDFKit framework and this rewrite is apparently very buggy. Apple has been fixing these bugs, but some remain in macOS Sierra 10.12.
You can't do any of this in Photoshop, because Photoshop doesn't have a database. The latest version of Lightroom also allows for location-based organization, which means you can sort your photos by location and automatically display the location information from your GPS-enabled camera or smart phone. You can also plot your road trip or vacation using the photos you took during your travels.

The solution listed above baffles me – where is the file named ‘/Library/Application Support/Adobe/CS5.5ServiceManager’ that needs to be renamed to fix the problem? Any advice is much appreciated.
There are Are you pulling your hair out over how to batch rename or delete hundreds or thousands of files? Chances are, someone else is already bald and figured it out.
Apple has been fixing these bugs, but some remain in macOS Sierra 10.12. An article by Mac veteran Adam Engst at TidBITS () describes some of these bugs, which can result in data loss in some cases. In the article, developer Christian Grunenberg says makes a statement that has always been true to some extent, but even more so in Sierra: Apple supports only a subset of the PDF specification, and that support has always been buggy. For maximum compatibility and reliability with all PDF versions and features, you’ll want to work with PDF files in Adobe Reader or Adobe Acrobat Pro, or a third-party application that does not rely on Apple PDFKit. Update: Apparently the macOS 10.12.3 and 10.12.4 updates fix many, but not all, of the bugs mentioned in the TidBITS article. TidBITS has published an updated article,.
Step 5: Select The Images You Want To Download Along with letting us view the images, the preview area also lets us choose which photos we want to download. In most cases, you'll want to download everything and then decide later which images are worth keeping. But if you know for a fact that there are images you don't need, there's a couple of ways to stop those images from downloading. Below each thumbnail, along with the file's name, shot date and time, you'll see a checkbox. Every image with a check inside the box will be downloaded. By default, every image is checked.
If you change your mind and decide not to rename the files, as I'm going to do, set the Rename Files box back to Do not rename files. The number box specifies the start of a four-digital extension. Preserve Current Filename in XMP stores the original name in the file. Step 9: The Advanced Options Directly below the Save Options is the Advanced Options section. But oddly enough, you won't find any advanced options here. Instead, you'll find the same four options that are also found in the Standard dialog.
I would highly recommend you read through all of my suggestions below and narrow it down to at least a couple, and then try them out for a little while. I think you will love how much easier it makes your life once you learned how to use them. UPDATE ~ Mar 2018 This article, which was originally published in January of 2011, has just been completely rewritten to include my favorite photo managing applications currently available today. Because of the challenges of updating a massive article such as this, I have not completed the detailed reviews for a few of the applications I'm recommending below. But, instead of making you wait until everything is completely finished, I've decided to do something I've never done before.
Adobe Bridge CC, as it’s formally called, is a desktop digital asset manager. This is a fancy way of describing what its purpose is, and that is as a visual hub for all of the files you use for your creative projects. Other than being able to rotate images, it doesn’t have any other editing capabilities.
Background: I would like to have an overall ‘system wide’ photo organizing program to catalogue each and everyone of my scanned and digital images (from the cloud, from storage devices etc). I can access the Cloud from my Win7 and download those photos to my desktop which I try to do on a regular basis. (I am noting this because I am aware that I am using two different os, Win and iOS). Most of these photos are already in some type of file folder. Questions: Do these organizing programs ‘find’ all these photos wherever they are (inside files, folders) and display them in one location? Are the photos ‘physically’ moved to this location or are they duplicated and recreated in new files? Can I then go through these thousands of photos and input data regarding them so I can then find/sort them?
Short Version: ACDSee is as close to Google's Picasa as I've currently found, yet from a reliable company with a long track record of constant updates and support. It's great for people with basic goals and skills, but also has a lot of advanced features that will challenge and grow with you. It's not free like Picasa was, but it really does a lot for what it costs. And it's been around for years and years and years.
Metadata about your images, including copyright information, can be viewed and edited in the Metadata panel. The Keywords panel lets us create keywords and apply them to our photos.
Don't just choose a separate partition on the same drive because you'll lose all of your partitions when the drive fails. Select the Save Copies To option, then click the Choose button and choose where you want to save copies of the images to, either on a separate internal hard drive or on an external USB or FireWire drive. Always save a copy of your images to a folder on a separate hard drive.
So far, various versions of Adobe Creative Suite (CS) applications I tried (the oldest being Photoshop CS3) are at least able to launch in the Sierra beta. As in El Capitan and earlier, older Adobe applications are able to launch after you run the. If you see the alert below, clicking More Info takes you directly to the Apple download page for Java for OS X. Adobe software older than the Creative Cloud (CC) versions are not officially supported on macOS 10.12 Sierra.
If it isn’t possible to store the information (invisibly) inside the file, metadata is then stored in a separate file called a sidecar file. Bridge’s Batch Renaming process is far beyond what we normally get in photo managers. If you’re ever seeking out a stand-alone batch-renaming application because you need the access to advanced features, you may find you no longer need to after seeing what’s already built into this application. You can literally build out a “formula” for your perfect filenames by adding and removing bits of information such as additional text, sequence numbers, dates, camera information, metadata, and then apply your custom formula to all of the photos you have selected. A nice touch is the option boxes for Windows, Mac OS and Unix to insure operating system compatibility with your newly renamed filenames. Since there is no central database with this application, Bridge will instantly save any filename and metadata changes you make right to your master images files.
The Filter panel makes it easy to filter images so we're only seeing the ones we need. And the Collections panel lets us group related images together. The Folders and Favorites Panels Usually, the first thing we want to do after opening Bridge is find some images to work on. That's where the two panels in the upper left, Folders and Favorites, come in.
The Photo Downloader allows us to import every image or just the ones we need. Step 4: Choose A Location To Save The Files With all of the images we want to download selected, the next task is to tell the Photo Downloader which folder we want to save the images to on our computer. By default, it assumes we want to save them to our main Pictures folder. If you have a different location in mind, click on the Choose button in the top left corner of the dialog box, then navigate to the folder you want to save them to. I'll leave mine set to my Pictures directory.
Like a good photo management, it shows all your photos on one place and with this you can add some professional amazing effects to your photos. Adobe Bridge: You must have heard of Adobe Photoshop in photography. There is an application of Adobe for photos management purpose and it works as one of the best photo management software.
This transition from HFS+ to APFS has been murky. Adobe says on various forums that CS6 will not work. I’ve read others saying that they have CS6 installed on APFS formatted volumes and it does work. I have it working on High Sierra but when I installed HS Beta, it did not format the SSD into APFS, it stayed as HFS+ and the CS6 apps do indeed work on HSBeta with HFS+. I guess we only have a few more days to see what the final situation will be moving forward. I’m crossing my fingers, holding my breath, etc.
The service was discontinued on April 1, 2008. See also [ ] • • • References [ ].
This gives you the ability to expand the editing capabilities of Photos. The cost of all of this “magic” and “lack of required knowledge about file management” that I spoke of earlier, comes at the expense of portability. All of your edits are stored as alternate version files or merely as data in its databases that Photos recalculates live anytime you click on a photo you’ve made changes to. Apple has chosen not to write edits and changes directly to your master image files. This means you can’t easily access your Photos for macOS collection by another application.

Photoshop CS3 and up will run in macOS 10.12 Sierra after Java is installed. With that in mind, here are a few things I’ve seen since trying out some older versions in Sierra. Be prepared to uninstall and reinstall if needed. Adobe applications were already installed when I upgraded my test Mac to Sierra. After the upgrade, some older Adobe applications had licensing errors. I was able to fix these by uninstalling and reinstalling those applications, and the lesson here is to always make sure you have all of the information you need (such as license keys or registration numbers) to reinstall any of your key software.
