Thanks everyone for the excellent feedback! A few additional questions: 1. How well does Mellel do with formatting end notes (if I can get by using end notes over footnotes so at least the formatting won't be all crazy)? Between Mellel and Nisus Pro, which has better performance? When I've used Mellel, performance was pretty good over Word. I almost had the hang of exporting Mellel docs to Word with very few 'conversion errors'. Are there any training videos on Mellel, or any other training besides the 'big manual' that'd help me learn more quickly and easily (like a 'Mellel for Dummies'?
I haven't tried e-Sword, on PC. How does, as referenced in the Low End Mac article, differ from (or fail to live up to) it? Also what kind of 'reference file' does e-Sword use? MacSword uses from the, which as best as I can tell is as open-sourced as you can probably get. I'm with you, mind. I'd love a great, native Bible app for Mac, but haven't come across anything that really fits that for me. That's why I'm asking these questions I'd like to know what you're looking for in a Bible application.
Bible Mark Up is a great individual bible study tool, but can also be used by Pastors & Bible Teachers to help their congregation learn how to study the scriptures. We sincerely hope this app. I have been doing inductive bible study using logos software and realized there are not many symbols to use. Is it possible to work with Precept Camden and Precept Ministries to incorporate all the symbols used to markup bible text?

I use the Treasury of Scripture Knowledge regularly and find the response to be very good as I scroll through verses and click on the TSK cross references to read the related verses. I also use Strongs and commentaries where I get the same good response. It’s not instantaneous, but the updates happen in under 2 seconds. Performance can be affected by other apps open at the same time and the amount of available memory. I do have to watch one particular website (LinkedIn) in Safari - if that is open then CPU utilization is high and performance degrades.

But, I think it only works well with English. I tried typing, copying and pasting Hebrew. It will look great, but when you compile it to doc/rft formats - boom, it will flip the letters/words in odd-reverse way.:/ So, I got tired of it, and now I am using Mellel for my dissertation, it is a great program, and need to learn a lot I wish I could really use Scrivener for the entire project! I would suggest using “Activity Monitor” (you’ll find this app in APPLICATIONS/UTILITIES) to see what is using resources if you experience performance issues. It fits the bill for me so well that I've abandoned all the other ones. But, after I finally surrendered to fever and got all Mac'd up, I'm now on the hunt again. I'm willing to pay for a good program, but not hundreds, because I don't use all that many features. Truth is, I'm running VMWare Fusion primarily to keep my E-Sword up and running! The beauty of E-Sword is the vast amount of FREE texts and tools they have (dang I wish they'd port it over to OS X!) and the simplicity of the interface. As I said earlier, their Windows Mobile version is pretty much perfect. Since a picture is worth a thousand words, I've attached a screenshot that's pretty self-explanatory.
