After 7 years of Essentials for Mac, Intuit has finally released a major update for their Mac users – Welcome. But is this a welcomed upgrade or just too little, too late? Let’s take a look and see. New features in Quicken 2015 for Mac Just in time for OS X Yosemite, Quicken 2015 for Mac is completed redesigned. Not only is the interface built from the ground up, but you get a new app as well and some fancy new features to go along with it.
I am waiting for the answer to the second part of my question, though, and that is how do I uninstall the software without it screwing up the operation of my current version? I have had a situation in the past where I used an uninstall for a newer version that assumed, incorrectly, that files common to both the new and the old version should be deleted. It was quite a painful process to put things back the way they were before I installed the newer version. If you were OK with the way the Quicken/Wells Fargo bill pay worked, you will find that iBank/Wells Fargo work exactly the same way as far as the interface between the two and as far as how Wells Fargo handles the timing of the transaction. IBank software is very good. While the interface between iBank and Wells Fargo is the same as Quicken, it does however have significant differences in how it interfaces with the user. There is a definite learning curve for someone who is used to Quicken and it took me several months of light usage before I grew to really like it.

Because Quicken 2015 right now is almost unusable, thanks to issues with their upgrading technology on the backend. Basically — it won’t connect to many banks to automatically update right now. They’re working on a fix and say they’re committed, but I’ll believe it when I see it. Meanwhile, I’ve looked briefly at alternatives for getting off the Quicken train but nothing jumps out at me as clearly a winner. I’m not willing to pay $50 to try iBank, for instance, and anything that doesn’t automatically download transactions is a non-starter. • Matthew says.
Bitdefender antivirus for mac reviews. Some bill pay situations would have deducted that $1,500 from my account on June 3, causing me to go into an overdraft situation. With those bill pay setups, I always have to be sure I have the money in the account 5 days before it is due, which makes controlling cash flow a pain. (Before I started using Wells Fargo, I actually had a bank go from the scenario I prefer to the one where they deduct the money 5 days before without informing me they were changing their processing method and they bounced about 8 checks on me, causing a bunch of grief! One of the payments was for my mortgage!) If iBank would let me continue to work with Wells Fargo the way I do today with Quicken, my bill paying concern would be handled acceptably. I will look iBank over more thoroughly and possibly consider switching.
To get access to the file on a Mac, follow these steps: - go the the Quicken application in the Applications folder - right-click on Quicken and select Show Package Contents - you should find the 'fidir.txt' file in Content > Resources > English.lproj folder. - look for a bank entry that has either '&WEBONLY' or '&WEB-CONNECT' depending on the version of Quicken you have. - pick the 5-digit code at the start of the line and replace it in the QFX or OFX file you downloaded from your FI/bank. - save your QFX file. Now Quicken should load the data. It may be trial and error. If one does not work, try another (check out the link to the discussion threads for some potential candidates).
I schedule the payment on June 3 to be presented to the payee on June 8. I know I will be okay with Quicken/Wells Fargo because I have an automatic deposit of $3,000 coming in on June 6 which will be credited to my account in time for the payment on June 8 (which is one day prior to the actual due date of June 9). I use Wells Fargo Bill Pay and payments scheduled for JUN 3 will be deducted from the balance on 3 JUN, regardless of whether it's an actual check or an electronic transfer. As per the Wells Fargo Bill Pay Guarantee; 'Send On (Date): This is the date that we begin to process the payment to your payee and withdraw funds from your account.' I am waiting for the answer to the second part of my question, though, and that is how do I uninstall the software without it screwing up the operation of my current version? The new version should be sandboxed and shouldn't have auxiliary files installed outside of the application bundle. You should be able to drag & drop the new version of the app into the Trash and if it's properly sandboxed it shouldn't have any effect on the older version.
The agent was there in about 10 minutes. Turned out the answer was in Quicken, to go to troubleshooting and deactivate downloads.Quit Quicken. Go to applications>utilities>keychain access and erase all quicken files in keychain, including Quicken ID Manager. Restart Quicken. You have to remember the passwords you had previously used at your bank/institution. Set up downloads again. Everything updated.
By default, iBank shows the earliest date for which your bank can guarantee delivery. As long as you enter a date that is no earlier than the default, iBank will ensure that the payment is received on or before the date you enter. Enter a category for the transaction or click the “Add Split” button to split the transaction and assign multiple categories. Enter the payment amount and any notes you want to be submitted with the payment, then click “Continue” to proceed. 'Each bank handles online payments differently. Some banks wait until the payment’s due date before withdrawing funds, some process the payment on the same date you submit it, and some choose a date in between.
I may not be able to move to the cloud. But I may be able to retire that Windows laptop.
I want all of these problems off of my plate. By moving to a SaaS version of Quicken, more of these back-end plumbing problems and glitches will become Quicken's problem. Instead of spending my time going back and forth between Quicken tech support and that of my financial institution I want you, Quicken, to talk to them directly and work things out. As the consumer I don't want to be in the middle anymore. And I'm not any more worried about the privacy of my data in a Quicken cloud than I am with online banking with Fidelity. Quicken is considered a financial institution, and as such is obligated to follow the same regulations as any bank.
I used to be a big fan of their Windows packages until they started updating and charging for the updates. All the time I had a version that was adequate for my needs and within a year or two, all support was phased out and it was useless to me. On line banking was no longer supported.
Now that I have made it past the initial learning curve I really like it. Free office program for mac. Quicken 2015 Crashed, unable to use!
I plan to run a test case for a while before I cut over, we'll see how it plays out. Well it is that time of the year again -- time to decide whether to upgrade my Quicken for Windows to the 2015 version. The decision this year is made more difficult with the release of Quicken for Mac so a few questions those who have gone through the going pains to date: 1. As Intuit has released updates for Quicken for Mac have they gotten it to the point where it is as reliable, as stable and as functional -- at least for banking and investment purposes -- as Quicken for Windows? Does Intuit's Quicken Mobile App only work with Quicken for Mac or does it also work with Quicken for Windows [as the literature seems to be conflicting and confusing on this point]?
At a glance is something the hipster programmers avoid at all cost. Also the quick sidebar links, Last Download, Scheduled Transactions, things like that are gone. Everything seems to take multiple clicks and drilling down to find. There are flaky implementations all over this thing, for example on a scheduled transaction they show 2 list entries, one for credit, one for debit.

I believe I have had the same issue. I tried three times to reach someone on chat where the projected time was 26 minutes yet hours later, still no rep connected to me. So I tried some things on my own and I found something that seemed to have worked. I don't recall if it was the same solution each time or my trial and error that paid off. I tried creating a new transaction, duplicating what was already there and I could then reconcile that one. I deleted the original after that. In another case I have to shift the dates forward or backward to get it in the right range.
If you’re a Quicken Essentials user thinking you’ll wait until this is resolved before switching however, think again. Intuit recently contacted Quicken Essentials users informing them that Quicken Essentials For Mac will stop supporting online banking and live support on 30 April 2015. At the time of writing, Intuit promise for all those that upgrade to Quicken 2015, they’ll get $10 off, automatic migration of Quicken data and access to the Quicken Mobile app. Accounts on the other hand are much easier to keep updated in real time though because Quicken 2015 has finally gone mobile with and Android apps that allow you to sync transactions and take photos of receipts (not exactly something new but a nice bonus anyway). The addition of mobile syncing is undoubtedly a huge improvement although for the security conscious, it’s worth noting that this does mean that your financial data is stored in Quicken’s cloud servers. The mobile apps are also very limited and feature hardly any of the functionality of the desktop app.

Say one bank has an issue and it on their end, ok. How about when 3, 4, 5 different banks all can't connect? Somehow it is all their fault and nothing to do with quicken! I have been using some form of this product since the early 90's on PC and now Mac. I am looking for another alternative now, because I think I really have hit the final wall. This transition has not gone well at all.
